CBD (CBI), CREATOR OF KEEPING YOUR POWER®, EVIDENCE BASED BIRTH®INSTRUCTOR, AND SPINNING BABIES® CERTIFIED PARENT EDUCATOR
Traci has been serving women and families in the River Region for over 20 years. She is passionate about birth and is committed to educating, supporting, and serving in any way she can to help a family meet their birthing goals.
Picture
Traci's commitment to the River Region communities is evidenced by her drive to provide current, personal, and evidence based information, as well as individualized support to families. Alabama currently had a cesarean rate of 34%, but the Healthy People 2020 target is 23%. With these discouraging numbers, Traci has continued to educate herself to advocate for her clients and has committed to helping educate families to lower primary and repeat cesareans. She serves as a mentor and coach to her fellow doulas, and an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor and a Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator. As a Senior Doula and Educator with advanced experience, Traci is offering high risk services such as VBAC, sexual abuse, birth trauma, and higher risk pregnancy issues as well as low risk births and homebirths.

In 2019, Traci created The Advanced Doula workshop and trademarked a concept called
Keeping Your Power® which is a thought process to strengthen the consumer's belief system and confidence in self advocacy. She is traveling the country training doulas on deeper doula topics such as team building and non confrontational advocacy.

Traci began her childbirth professional education after the birth of her first son, Christopher. Christopher was born with a heart defect and underwent open heart surgery at two months, at which time Traci was not encouraged to continue breastfeeding. While educating herself during her second pregnancy, Traci knew she wanted this birth to be different. She grew angry and the educational choices in Montgomery, and knew she wanted to one day bring better childbirth and breastfeeding education to her community. She was a teenage mom who was under the impression that her age was the reason she was not provided with the education or support she would have gotten otherwise.

Traci has been married for 28 years and has 4 adult children.

In 2017 Alabama Legislature Passed the Childbirth Safety Act making homebirth an option in Alabama. Certified Professional Midwives are recognized under this law and currently  Alabama now  licensed midwives. A list of Certified Professional Midwives are here.
I give discounts for homebirth due to most insurances not accepting insurances.

"I have worked with Traci several times when her clients come in to deliver at Baptist East. I absolutely love taking care of natural mommas alongside Traci because she is supportive and encouraging to the patients while remaining respectful of our nursing profession and advice too! She is always open-minded and willing to ask our opinions and seek advice when things are not going as planned or when labor isn't progressing normally! I truly enjoy working alongside her!"
-Brentley Greene, Labor and Delivery Nurse at Baptist East
